As the Candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada in Vancouver South, I am honoured to have the opportunity, in this federal election, to become your Member of Parliament in Ottawa. Arriving in Vancouver as a child in an immigrant family, I never imagined that one day I would accept the challenge to run to become a Member of Parliament. Like some of you, learning English, getting an education or earning a living were more immediate concerns. However, Canada is a country of incredible opportunity, and I have learned that by working hard and getting involved in our community, each one of us can have an amazing impact - to contribute to the well-being of our families, our communities and to our country. 

Growing up and gaining life and work experience throughout the Lower Mainland, as well as in Victoria and Ottawa, I have learned that a strong, proactive and responsible government can have an immensely positive impact on our daily lives. Opportunities to develop language and work skills, to build businesses and careers, and to live in safe and healthy neighbourhoods are important things to each of us, and  where government leadership and involvement is of critical importance. As a parent, I am particularly concerned about our children and how Canada can remain one of the best countries in the world. As a daughter, I am an advocate for the rights, safety and well-being of our seniors.  As a small business person I want a strong and stable economy. As a global citizen, I am aware of earth’s environmental challenges and want to work towards addressing them. I am sure that many of you share these concerns and I look forward to working on these important issues this year —with you, the many businesses, community groups and organizations in Vancouver South.

It is my belief that each person can and should get involved with government, in whichever way we can – from something as important as getting out to vote – to joining a political party - to becoming a political candidate. Canada is a stronger, richer nation when all citizens are actively engaged in charting our future.
